After 8 years of singing cover songs to adventuring tourists, as well as co-leading 2 years of weekly sing-alongs on-line during COVID, Katherine has been surprised and delighted by what can work in song circles. In this workshop, we’ll learn the chords and harmonies to some classic campfire songs as well as songs that are outside the folk and country genres. That means getting a few new chord progressions and grooves under our belts. We'll look at techniques to quickly teach melodies, harmonies, choruses, and calls and responses to fellow singers. Bring your instruments and/or your voice.
Bio
It's been 33 years since Katherine sold her first 4-song cassette, did her first radio interview (CBC's The Entertainers with Karen Gordon) and played her first folk festival (Northern Lights in Sudbury, ON). Over those years, she's had the great pleasure of playing with a variety of artists in different duos and trios. She finds herself these days performing as a solo singer-songwriter, playing in the hilarious and moving duo "Wendell and Wheat", ripping it up with the 7-piece band, Betty and the Bobs, and touring every winter and spring with Tannis Slimmon and Angie Nussey in their trio "Boreal". Katherine and Jane Lewis facilitate Women's Music Weekend as well as lead weekly choirs in their home town of Guelph, ON. For her job entertaining intrepid polar travelers as musician/zodiac driver/adventure guide, Katherine has learned over 400 cover songs, as well as the habits of whales, penguins, bears, and icebergs.

Is for folks that want all the WFC programming, but prefer to stay offsite. It includes

Is for folks that want to stay onsite in a shared cabin. It includes
3 nights accommodation
All meals from Saturday breakfast to Monday lunch
You may choose to share a cabin with someone you know. Otherwise, you will be randomly assigned to an appropriate male or female cabin. Guests are required to bring their own bedding and towels.
Semi-private: SOLD OUT!
Is for folks that want to stay onsite, and enjoy all the benefits of the "Inclusive" package, but prefer to be in a cabin with one other person.
